American Airlines, United, Alaska Airlines, Delta, Southwest and JetBlue are among the airlines with nonstop flights to the Los Cabos area from U.S. cities. Most travelers fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), near San José del Cabo, then continue to Cabo San Lucas by road. JSX also flies from a few U.S. cities to the smaller Cabo San Lucas International Airport, a separate option with a more limited schedule.
Which airport do direct flights use?
For most visitors, “flying to Cabo” means flying to SJD. The airport is in San José del Cabo and is the main gateway for Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo and the resort corridor. Expedia describes SJD as roughly 23 miles from Cabo San Lucas, while the local route overview gives about 31 miles and a 40-minute drive to downtown. Those are different distance measures, so check your hotel’s location and transfer time rather than treating the airport as being in town. Expedia’s airport overview and Cabo San Lucas’s flight and route overview identify SJD as the main gateway.
There is also a smaller Cabo San Lucas airfield. JSX operates scheduled service there from Dallas Love Field and Los Angeles, with seasonal service from Scottsdale. This is not the same airport as SJD, and it is not the standard choice for the larger set of commercial flights to Los Cabos. Check the airport name on your ticket before arranging a pickup. The route overview distinguishes JSX’s Cabo San Lucas flights from the airlines serving SJD.
Which U.S. airlines and cities have nonstop flights?
Routes below are a useful starting point, not a promise that a flight runs every day or all year. The route overview was updated October 26, 2026, and notes that many services are seasonal. Check your exact dates with the airline before booking. Cabo San Lucas’s route overview lists these nonstop services to SJD.
| U.S. gateway | Airlines listed for nonstop SJD service |
|---|---|
| Los Angeles | American, Air France, Alaska, Delta and United |
| Dallas-Fort Worth | American |
| Denver | United and Southwest |
| Chicago O’Hare | American and United |
| Houston | United from Bush Intercontinental; Southwest from Hobby |
| Phoenix | American and Southwest |
| San Diego | Alaska and Southwest |
| San Francisco | Alaska and United |
| Seattle | Alaska and Delta |
| Atlanta | Delta |
| New York | JetBlue and Delta from JFK |
| Austin | American, Delta and Southwest |
Other nonstop routes listed include Newark on United, Minneapolis on Delta and Sun Country, Detroit on Delta, and Washington, D.C. on United. Some of those services are seasonal. Southwest’s Chicago Midway route is marked unconfirmed in the route overview, so don’t count on it without checking the airline’s schedule. The route overview gives the airlines and seasonal notes.

Check your dates and departure airport, since nonstop routes and fares can change with the season.
What airlines fly to Cabo from Mexico and abroad?
Nonstop service to SJD is not limited to the United States. Mexican airlines serving the airport include Aeroméxico, Volaris and VivaAerobus, with routes from cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Tijuana, Monterrey and Culiacán. The route overview also lists Copa Airlines from Panama City; Condor from Frankfurt; and Canadian airlines including Air Canada, Air Transat, Porter and WestJet. Several of these routes operate seasonally, so their presence on a route list does not mean they’ll be available for your travel week. The current route overview lists the carriers and their scheduled destinations.
For a quick cross-check, KAYAK also identifies American and United among airlines with direct flights to SJD, and lists Aeroméxico, Alaska and Delta in its direct-flight deal examples. Its figures and available fares can shift, so use a search result as a lead and verify the itinerary with the airline. KAYAK’s SJD flight search covers nonstop airlines and routes.
How can you tell if a flight is really nonstop?
Search for SJD as the destination, then filter for nonstop or direct flights. “Direct” is sometimes used loosely in search results, so check the itinerary details for a stop. A connection through a U.S. hub can still be a reasonable option if there’s no nonstop from your home airport, but compare the total travel time and layover before choosing it.
Los Angeles is one of the clearest places to start comparing: several airlines are listed on the nonstop route to SJD. If you’re flying from Los Angeles, see our guide to LAX to Cabo flights for route-specific planning. And if your flight lands at SJD, read the Cabo airport guide before you choose a transfer.
For JSX, check that your itinerary actually names the Cabo San Lucas airport, not SJD. JSX’s Dallas Love Field and Los Angeles service is listed as year-round, while the Scottsdale route is seasonal. The route page says these flights use the Cabo San Lucas International Airport; the service is distinct from the main SJD routes. The route overview provides the airport and route details.
Before you book
Nonstop availability changes with the season, and some routes in the schedule are explicitly seasonal or have start and end dates. Search your dates before building a trip around a particular airline or departure city. If SJD is your arrival airport, arrange the onward ride to your hotel in advance; our SJD airport transfer guide compares the main ways to get from the airport to Cabo San Lucas.
Our practical pick: choose SJD for the broadest set of airline options, and consider JSX only if its separate Cabo San Lucas airport and route work well for your plans. If you haven’t picked a base yet, compare where to stay in Cabo before deciding which arrival and transfer setup suits you.
