Cabo spring break peaks in March. The broader season runs from late February to early April, but there isn’t one official set of dates: U.S. school holidays vary, and organized event weeks cover only part of the season. Expect the biggest crowds and highest prices around the busiest March weeks, especially near the marina and Medano Beach. U.S. News places spring break from late February to early April, while The Boujist describes March as the peak, concentrated around U.S. school holidays.
When is spring break in Cabo?
For planning purposes, think “March, with dates spilling into late February and early April,” not a single Cabo-wide spring-break week. If you’re looking at a package or concert, check that organizer’s dates separately from your school calendar.
For 2027, LVIN lists four-night event weeks on March 7 to 11, March 14 to 18, March 21 to 25, and March 28 to April 1. These are specific organized package weeks, not a complete calendar of when every student or family will be in town. LVIN’s 2027 Cabo guide says the packages bundle a hotel stay with parties, a booze cruise and a concert night.
March is warm and dry. One source puts typical daytime temperatures around 80 to 85°F (27 to 29°C), while another lists a March average high of 80.1°F and a low of 55.6°F. Pack for warm days and cooler evenings, and don’t assume the ocean will feel like a heated pool. The Boujist and U.S. News provide the temperature figures.
How crowded is Cabo, and what does it cost?
March is the busiest spring-break month, and the marina area can feel especially packed. Hotels in downtown Cabo can be difficult to find during the influx, so book early if you want a particular property or location. U.S. News describes December through April as high season, with heavy crowds and high prices.
For context, the average Cabo room rate across December through April is reported at more than $500 per night. That’s a high-season average, not a spring-break quote for every hotel or a guaranteed rate for your dates. The Boujist says March prices are very high during spring-break weeks and a little lower at other times, but doesn’t publish a specific rate. Prices change, so treat that figure as a seasonal benchmark, not a booking price. U.S. News cites the average; The Boujist compares March timing.
If you’re planning a March 2027 trip, start checking availability now. The Boujist says booking six to twelve months ahead for spring-break weeks and top resorts isn’t excessive. May and June are a different proposition: U.S. News identifies them as a shoulder season when early bookers can find discounts. Compare current hotel rates for your dates, since spring-break demand can make popular places harder to book.
Where are the main spring-break party zones?
Medano Beach is the daytime center. It’s the main calm, swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas, with beach clubs and daytime activity. Mango Deck is known for live music and beach contests; Tamara Beach Club at ME Cabo has sunbeds, cabanas and a DJ. For a less rowdy beach-club day, SUR Beach House and Corazon are described as calmer options. LVIN’s Cabo guide covers these venues. Check the Cabo swimmable beaches guide before choosing a place to swim.
Downtown is the late-night zone. El Squid Roe, Mandala and La Vaquita sit within walking distance of each other near the marina. Expect a more energetic night out there than in San José del Cabo or the resort areas. If your room is close to the marina, ask about its location and noise before booking; if nightlife is the point, that same location may suit you. See our guide to Cabo San Lucas nightlife for more on going out.
Not every spring-break trip needs to be a beach-club-and-club circuit. LVIN notes that many groups spend a day on the water, and lists a shared booze cruise as part of some packages. A private yacht is a different option, with a group’s own boat and schedule. Book beach-club days, tables or boat outings early if they’re central to your plans; the guide cautions that large tables, cabanas and yachts can’t reliably be arranged at the last minute in March. LVIN’s guide has the details.
Is Cabo safe for spring break?
Available sources describe the marina, resort corridor and San José del Cabo as visitor-focused and very safe, but they don’t provide spring-break-specific incident data. Treat that as a general description, not a guarantee. Use ordinary travel precautions, and make sure your group has a clear plan for getting back to its hotel after a night out. Atlas Ranger’s Cabo guide gives the broader safety assessment. For a fuller overview, read our Cabo safety guide.
The ocean is a more immediate safety concern for many visitors. Medano is the main calm, swimmable beach, but Pacific-facing beaches, including Solmar and the stretch near the Arch, can have powerful rip currents and may not be swimmable. Check beach flags and signs before entering the water, and don’t treat a crowded beach as proof that conditions are safe. Atlas Ranger advises checking warnings and planning swimming on the Sea of Cortez side.
Where can you go for a quieter spring trip?
Choose February or April instead of March if you want dry, sunny weather with fewer spring-break crowds. Atlas Ranger recommends both months as alternatives; it says the spring-break crowds have faded by April, while whale season continues through mid-April. The Boujist also describes April as a month when crowds drop significantly and prices become moderate compared with January through March. Atlas Ranger and The Boujist cover the seasonal differences.
For a quieter base during a March trip, San José del Cabo has a calmer old town and art district. The East Cape is another option for travelers who want distance from the main Cabo crowds: Four Seasons describes its Costa Palmas resort as far from the Golden Corridor, with a calm, swimmable beach. That’s a specific resort-area alternative, not a promise that every East Cape stay will fit every budget or itinerary. Atlas Ranger describes San José; Four Seasons describes its East Cape setting.
Before you go
Pick your dates before choosing a hotel: a March weekend near Medano and the marina is a different trip from a quieter stay in San José or the East Cape. Book early if you want a specific resort, and check the ocean conditions each day rather than assuming every Cabo beach is swimmable. If you want the spring-break energy, stay near the action. If you don’t, shift your dates or your base.
